Based on document analysis, a questionnaire survey and interviews with three vocational schools from the downtown area in Fuzhou City, the research explores the current situation of the relationship between vocational students’problem-behavior tendencies and self-control. The results can be used by educators to help them understand and cope with behavioural problems in their classes. The results could also be useful for the Department of Education Administration to develop policy for enhancing vocational students’self-control ability. These measures should help to decrease vocational students’behavioral problems and provide a basis for cultivating vocational students’good behavior. The software SPSS17.0, analysis of the survey suggests the following conclusions:First, the situation of vocational students’problem-behavior tendencies, which is not serious, and their self-control ability, which is average, are in obvious negative correlation. Their predictive power of emotional self-control reaches the highest while their predictive power of behavior self-control is the lowest.Secondly, vocational students’lack of self-control has the greatest impact on the tendency to break rules and the tendency to form habits, leading to the influence of their total score on their problem-behavior tendency. Their aggressive behavior is affected more by their emotional self-control.Third, the gender differences do not affect vocational students’self-control ability. Except for behavior self-control, male vocational students’self-control ability is stronger than that of female vocational students’. However, the gender differences do obviously affect vocational students’problem-behavior tendency. Except for the dimension of aggressive behavior, male vocational students are more serious in other dimensions than female vocational students.Fourth, overall, vocational students’self-control ability and problem-behavior tendency vary greatly in different grades. Observed from each dimension, vocational students only vary significantly in emotional self-control and behavior self-control. The vocational students in lower grades have stronger self-control ability than in higher grades. Every dimension of problem-behavior tendency has discrepancies. The senior students show a more serious problemsFifth, generally speaking, the vocational students from cities hold weaker self-control ability and worse problem-behavior tendencies than those from rural areas. They show obvious differences in their tendency to break rules and lack self-control.Finally, whether being an only child or not, does not differ in problem-behavior tendency and self-control. However, it does differ in the tendency to break rules and behavior self-control. The survey indicated that "only child" was more serious in the tendency to break rules.
