The Students In Grade7in Mathematics Independent Learning Ability Investigation And Strategy

During recent years, independent study is a way of learning advocated by many schools. This way of learning has got great development with the implementation of new curriculum standard. Independent study is one of the characteristics in my school. Based on the analysis of the questionnaires on independent study ability of the Grade7students, the interview to parents and case studies, this article focuses on the strategies of cultivating students’independent study ability, encouraging students to learn actively and individually, improving students constantly to find, analyze and solve problems and cultivating students’ creative thoughts. This article also concentrates on enriching teachers’ and students’ awareness of independent study and deepening the connotation of the independent study characteristics in our school.This article includes three chapters. Chapter One defines the concept of independent study, extracts the characteristics of independent study and states the research results and the theory on independent study at home and abroad. Chapter Two mainly expounds that most students are still used to studying passively under the teachers’ and parents’ supervision, and not willing to participating actively in study, based on the questionnaires on independent mathematics study ability of the Grade7students and the interview to parents. From the above, we have got the different conclusions about independent study in our school according to parents’different degree of culture or job categories. The last chapter advises to how to improve independent study. We can enhance the intrinsic motivation of students’independent study through the influence of the campus culture. We can make students form the habit of independent study through the study method instruction in self-study classes, guidance, supervision and evaluation of independent study in classroom teaching. We can explore the way for individual independent study through the preparation, review, generalization, extra-curricular training, team cooperation, math diary, etc. We can set up appropriate self-assessment and regulation mechanism to of cultivate students’ mathematical independent study strategy through the forms of preview speaking lessons, mind mapping, every-week unit practice, every-month section detection, reflection of teaching and learning.
