The higher education in our country has been gradually approaching the popularization stage.Towards a broader talent market,conforming to the demand for a large number of ordinary human capital,training more adaptable applied talents,paying attention to the cultivation of students' practical ability have become an important issue for Chinese higher education.In order to further explore the cultivation of practical ability in Applied Universities,this study explores the present situation and the relationship of student practical ability and learning experience of students from the perspective of the independent college students' learning experience in six independent colleges of Jiangsu Province,in the view of suggestions on the improvement of practical ability of students in applied universities.This research is conducted mainly by the questionnaire survey,supplemented by the interview.Relying on Nanjing University Dean's Office's official support,This study collected the data of students' practical ability and learning experience from six independent college in Jiangsu Province,including Nanjing University Jingling College,Southeast University Chengxian College,Yangzhou University Guangling college,Communication University of China Nanguang College,Suzhou University applied technology College,Nanjing University of Science&Technology Taizhou science and technology College.The main contents of this study include the present situation of Independent college students'practical ability and learning involvement.How do some regular activities of students and teacher-student interaction influence the practical ability?with SPSS 19.0 software and integrating with the related researches,this study gets the following conclusions:Independent college students have higher practical will.There are significant differences in the willingness to practice among different types of parent college,gender and grade.The practical will of students in 985 is significantly lower than 211 and the ordinary students.From the first to the third stage,the willingness to practice shows a relatively stable trend,and the fourth is the key point for students to improve their practical will.Compared with the practical willingness,the practical skills of independent college students are not prominent.There are significant differences in different types of universities,grade and major.Specifically,students in 985's self rating of the practical skills is significantly lower than that of the students in 211 and others.From the first to the third stage,the practical skill shows a relatively stable trend,and the fourth is the key point for students to improve their practical skill.liberal arts students'self-evaluation of practical skills is significantly lower than that of science majors.Independent college students are lack of teacher-student interaction,the instruction of life,career planning is more popular among students.At the same time,The interviews found that the interaction between teachers and students also had the difference of "identity",and there was a significant difference between the students and ordinary students.At the same time,compared to the academic exchange and guidance,students prefer to get the guidance of life,college life,future development,career development from teachers.Solid professional foundation,reasonable guidance is the key to the enhance of the practical ability.In the control of the gender,grade university and major,regression analysis reveals that attending class,academic activities,online video games have significant impacts on the each dimension of practical ability of students.Among them,attending class,academic activities have positive impacts on the each dimension of practical ability,and electronic games have negative impacts on the practical ability.Based on above conclusions,this study suggests that,no matter what type of colleges and universities,for the development of students,teachers and the humanities environment is always the most important,and puts forward relevant suggestions on improving the practical ability of students in Independent Colleges,including relying on the parent school reasonably,making clear the development orientation of College,correcting the understanding of the practical ability,penetrate their training in various stages,enhancing feedback of practical activities and helping all the students by the students' organization.
