Psychological expectations and internal needs are the psychological driving forces forideological and political education of college students. Applying psychological contracttheory to the ideological and political education of college students, is aimed at making up thelack of current ideological and political education and management in a more rational andscientific way,and therefor the training, guidance and education of college students can beachieved in the interactive education process with equality, respect and understanding.The psychological contract theory,which is derived from Organization Behavior Scienceand introduced into management areas in the1960s, reflects the balance relationship betweenthe psychological expectations and the actual take and give of both the employers andemployees. Psychological contract has caused high attention and lively discussion in the fieldof academy, management and education as its theory is being constantly researched anddeepened.In this paper, taking psychological contract as the starting point, the author conductssystematic research and analysis on ideological and political education of college students.First, the basic concept, connotation, features and functions of the psychological contract inthe ideological and political education to college students have been summarized andanalyzed. Secondly, based on complete and systematic theoretical support, further analysishas been made on practical needs of applying the psychological contract theory to theideological and political education of college students. In the third part, the building processof the psychological contract theory in the ideological and political education has beenanalyzed objectively, the basic process of psychological contract fulfillment for educators andeducatees has been further elaborated, and the formation factors of both sides ofpsychological contract have been deeply and carefully analyzed. Finally, based onpsychological contract theory, from both educators and students, the author accordingly putsforward to the applicable strategies related to the ideological and political education of the college students, which may improve its effectiveness.
