The college entrance examination has been the “baton” that conducts the wholeeducation orchestra for a long time. And its little change and reform will exert greatinfluence on middle school English teaching and students learning. In recent years, theMinistry of Education has been trying to work out a new scheme, which aims to excludeEnglish from college entrance examination, to make high school English teaching focusesmore on practicability of the English as a foreign language and improve students’ practicalcompetence in using the language. The new curriculum reform also argues that theteaching should give full play to student’s main body role to realize the combination ofteachers’ leading role and students’ main body role harmoniously. Therefore, improving theefficiency of high school students’ English autonomous learning becomes a necessary wayto adapt to the current English learning requirements.At present, there are few studies about the high school students’ English autonomouslearning management in our country. This paper is mainly based on the guidance of theordinary high school curriculum standard and the autonomous learning theory to discusshow teachers can guide the effective management of ordinary high school Englishautonomous learning. As English learning materials are various, the corresponding learningmethods emerge in endlessly. Because of teachers’ rich experience and access to largeamount of information, student individual really need teacher’s guidance to achieveeffective management of their own autonomous learning to improve the learning efficiency.Firstly the paper describes autonomous learning researches home and abroad and expoundsrelated researches about middle school students’ English autonomous learning management.Secondly, the paper combs the concept of the autonomous learning and educationmanagement and briefly analyzes their relationship and points out factors that affectmiddle school students’ English autonomous learning. Then, in the method of questionnaireand interview, the current status and problems in high school students’ English autonomous learning will be shown. According to the present situation, measures to strengthen theknowledge and self adjusting management will be put forward. In order to confirm thevalidity of new method, the author made a one year experiment to class12in Grade bypractical teaching based on the study programs. In the course of the experiment, teachers’teaching and guidance expand more in the pre-class stage and the post-class stage and thelearning method instruction from the perspective of knowledge management and the selfadjusting management let the students have more time to realize exploratory thinking andsuccessful creativity. And students’ integrated use of English language ability is improvedas well. The comparative class is from the same grade with the same level adopting thetraditional teaching method. At the end of the experiment, the experimental classautonomous learning ability is surveyed in the form of questionnaire and is compared withparallel class grades in terms of academic achievements. The experiment results show thatunder teacher’s active guidance of students’ English autonomous learning management, inshort-term effect, students’ interest in learning English gradually grows, and theirconsciousness of English autonomous learning management can preliminarily be formed.Besides, it can improve the efficiency of their autonomous learning and students’ Englishlearning achievements are improved with it. The long-term effect is it helps to cultivatestudents’ innovative spirit and creative ability, contributing to the student lifelong benefit.It’s a good way to transport highly qualified English talents for the country.In conclusion, strengthening the present ordinary high school English autonomouslearning management is necessary. Reasonable implementation is a complicated system.We need to probe ceaselessly in practice in order to explore the best solution to relievingthe burden on students and raising the learning efficiency.
