Based on the previous studies of reward and punishment, a research has been carriedout targeted at the realities in the class management in Huai’an Middle School in JiangsuProvince. It includes the present situation, real effects and factors affecting the practice.Valuable strategies have been raised to improve the class management.As is shown in the studies, the practice of reward and punishment plays a positive role inthe class management of the school. It is often seen that teachers attach great importance to thepractice, which is conducted in a fair and person-oriented way. It gives students rewardwhenever necessary but never ignores punishment. It allows teachers to take actionsappropriately according to different cases. The situation afterwards needs attention as well.It is shown in the research that there are some problems existing in the practice inHuai’an Middle School. The proportion of reward and punishment is not equal. Thesubjects are rather fixed. The work after the practice is not enough. As is mentioned in thefollowing research, the present situation is thoroughly analyzed according to the behaviorand mental characteristics of high school students and the thoughts and ways of teachers,making many valuable conclusions which are practical to the school management.Meanwhile, with the use of survey and interviews, a variety of factors affecting thepractice at the school have been analyzed based on a lot of cases. Among those factors, theones of the surrounding environment are rules, regulations and structures of the school.The main factors include teachers, students and warm-hearted individuals from the societylike parents.Last but not least, a few systematic suggestions have been given based on the presentsituation of the practice at the mentioned school, hoping to achieve the highest effect onthe practice of reward and punishment in class management in high school.
