| In the recent years,with the fast development of Chinese teaching in Thailand, Thaimiddle school Chinese language education’s focus is shifting from the teaching-scaledevelopment to improve teaching quality as a whole matter. Chinese character is an importantpart of Chinese learning, because of its special status and role, there’s an increasingattention both from the academia and the teaching profession circle, but the current status ofThai secondary school teaching of Chinese characters is not very optimistic, Chinesecharacter education still lags behind other language elements of teaching, the level andquality of teaching high school Chinese characters can be an effectively impact of Thailand’sChinese teaching. It has become a key of the middle school Chinese teaching.Compound characters are the majority of all the current using Chinese characters. Chinesecharacter teaching cannot always stay at the level of stroke education and only teaching simplesingle characters to avoid these more complex characters with various structures. On the onehand, compound Chinese characters teaching should be emphasized. First, design specialcurriculum to analyze the external shape of Chinese characters to reveal the inner hierarchy andPhonetic law (especially Phonogram Character). Second, focusing on the order and rules ofhow students build Chinese Character recognition. It is not possible to require students to graspall aspect of character knowledge, it is not realistic and if inappropriate teaching methods areused, it is very likely to make students lose their interest and confidence in the Chineselearning. In short, how to design a compound Chinese character recognition and memorizingcurriculum that is scientific and in accordance with the students’ learning process will be one ofthe key in the teaching of Chinese characters. This dissertation is consisted of four chapters.The first chapter introduces theback-ground, purpose and significance of this paper. The second chapter analyzes the twocompound Chinese characters teaching methods, both have their respect advantages anddisadvantages. Chapter III briefly analyzes the characteristics of students’ perception of Chinesecharacters and justify the concept of different goals in the Chinese characters learning. ChapterIV based on the above discussion gives an example of compound Chinese character teachingfor the secondary school students of Thailand. The last chapter made a conclusion of this paper. |
