As a foreign language, Chinese has played an important role in Thailand’s classes ofprimary schools, secondary schools, even universities in recent years. The author went toThailand to teach Chinese as a second language in July2014, and discovered that the students’ability of listening and speaking is rather poor. Through communicating with some teachers andanalyzing the results of the students’ survey in Khamtaklachapracha-songkrao School(hereinafter referred to as “KRS school”),the author summed up the main problems of Chineselistening-speaking classes, and tried to design the effective teaching plan according to thesolutions of these problems.This paper mainly talks about the instructional design of Chinese listening-speakingclasses of middle-school students in Thailand, taking the students’ communicative competenceas the basic principle. Based on the survey of students in KRS school, the author studied thetheories of Chinese instructional design, searched the effective learning pattern for Thaistudents of middle school, and designed My hobby as a primary listening-speaking lecture ofChinese. The design aims to set an example of listening-speaking classes in Thailand, supply anappropriate reference for Chinese teachers, explore a positive thinking pattern for Chineselearners, which may improve the students’ ability of listening and speaking.This paper consists of four parts:The first chapter introduces the reason, the significance, the resolution and the theoryfoundations of this study.The second chapter mainly analyzes the Chinese-teaching situation of KRS school inThailand, which includes Chinese-teaching backgrounds, teaching demands of school, Chineseteaching faculty, students’ conditions of Chinese learning and the importance of classmanagement. Through the investigation of some students and teachers, the author grasped thestudents’ interest, learning motivation, learning expectation, students’ Chinese level and so on,which can provide reliable and direct reference for the author’s specific teaching design ofChinese class. The third chapter is the core part of this paper, discusses the design and theimplementation of Chinese class My hobby. The design includes vocabulary design and textdesign, which is divided by four periods. The author designed each period according to thetheoretical basis and practical basis, took attention to students’ feedback of the teaching process,described the evaluation of the students’ learning result so as to get a better design of the nextperiod.The fourth chapter gives an objective summary of this study according to its results andprocess. On the one hand, the author found out the shortcomings of the design through theproblems during the teaching process. On the other hand, on the basis of teaching and learningpattern, the author tried to search an effective pattern of Chinese listening-speaking class ofmiddle school in Thailand and gave some advice to cultivate and improve the students’communicating ability.
