With the fast growth in technology and economic globalization, thematerial condition of social life and people s physical situation bothhave greatly improved. But, the decreasing physical activities and theincreasing mental pressure lead to not only physical but alsopsychological problems and those become more serious over time. The gymand health lessons are national lessons aiming to improve student sphysical condition, which is important for the teenagers in high schoolto grow healthy physically and psychological. Facing the curriculumreform and current curriculum situation, it is urged to find out newdidactics based on previous theoretical principle and experiences. It isalso need to find new teaching models and methods in the classroom teachingto improve teaching efficiency and students learning skill.As the book Learn to survive said, in classroom teaching,Bandura s observational learning theory will broaden our theoreticalhorizon, enrich the academic value and reform teaching and learningprocess. Also, it will help students to perform self-study,self-management and self-education.This research uses the document-data method to summarize and analysistheories such as observational learning theory, teaching of trackand field and sprint teaching. Surveys have been made before andafter the experiment. Mathematical statistics has been applied forachieving the accurate and objective result. Applying the TeachingExperiment and based on the procedures of teaching plan in Bandura sobservational learning theory, the research explores the influence thatthe experimental process has on the experiment result.It’s concluded that observational teaching method in Bandura sobservational learning theory is suitable for sprint teaching which meetsthe requirement of physical education and can fulfill the physicaleducation s targets and goals. That s also good for studentself-motivated study and it can fully develop students enthusiasm andcreativity in study. The teaching methods have enhanced studentsathletic abilities. Their learning attitude and the study result all showgreat improvement. The study believes that the observational teaching method inBandura s observational learning theory applied in short distancerunning teaching in high school physical education track and field parthas achieved good experiment effects. Through curriculum, the sportsskills of the students have improved a lot. Meanwhile, the experimentpromotes the self-motivated study and the teamwork spirit of the students.It enhances the creativity and cooperation as well.
