This paper expounded the significance of improving the postdoctoral training quality based on the demand for advanced professionals in the current epoch of knowledge economy. The postdoctoral system, the postdoctoral management concepts, and the composition and characteristics of postdoctoral process management in universities at home and abroad were elaborated by literature research. According to a comparative analysis of management characteristics of domestic and foreign postdoctoral training, the concept of project management was applied in the postdoctoral training. The emphasis of this study was the plan and start, execution and control, and finishing and feedback before, during and after the postdoctoral training. Thus a viable and scientific postdoctoral training mode was built. Aiming at the characteristics of purpose during postdoctoral training, the concept of "people oriented" was put forward. Combined the case study of Y university with the different characteristics of postdoctoral management in other universities, as well as the combination of policy analysis and empirical research, the postdoctoral management features were illustrated from the perspective of project management. The key factors, which existed in the quality of postdoctoral management at home and abroad, were summarized through literature survey. The critical factors influencing the quality of postdoctoral training were analyzed emphatically and the ultimate solution was proposed according to various analysis, which included the practice of own postdoctoral management work, the case study of postdoctoral management in Y university, a basic frame of project management, the basic concept of "people oriented", the internal marketing theory, the demand level theory, the expectation theory, the equality theory, the goal setting theory and the dual factors theory.
