With the constant enlargement of the enrollment scale of the university, the nurturing quality of talenthas become the core and soul of the quality of higher education. How to elevate the quality of collegeeducation has become the important subjects which is widely concerned about by all social sectors.Xinjiang lies in concentrated area of nationalities. To a great extent, realizing social stability and lastingpolitical stability in Xinjiang depends on whether can the Xinjiang colleges nurture qualified students tomeet the social and economic development needs.By self-designed questionnaire, this study makes an investigation regrading the five factors that mayinfluence the quality of College students’ cultivation of Xinjiang minorities among9universities inXinjiang. The five factors include students’ attitudes towards Chinese learning, students’ Chineseproficency, teachers’ quality and structure, curriculum and teaching and students’ engagement. Then thesurvey data is analyzed by SPSS17.0statistic software. Combined with the interview content, it gives ananalysis in depth of the system support on the educational funds investment, construction of teaching staff,the quality of preparatory teaching, teaching management, student management as well as diversifiededucation policies which are enforced by our country, Xinjiang government and Xinjiang colleges toguarantee the nurture of the college students of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. Based on those analyses, thestudy shows that training quality factors of the ethnic minority graduates in Xinjiang are reflected in fourdifferent levels. It is mainly represented in the following aspects: the college students’ Chinese level islimited; the echelon structure of college teachers is unreasonable; students have a low assessment on thecurriculum and teaching; in general, student engagement is insufficient. Based on the contents of interview,it is believed that there are many reasons causing the above-mentioned problems. In specific, the lowChinese teaching quality of basic education, the loose management of preparatory teaching,their mixedresults and the lack of language learning environment are the main causes for the low level of students’Chinese; There are also many reasons causing the unreasonable teachers structure, such as the imperfectstructure of ethnic minority teachers and their low academic level, the great flowing off of the teachers;The main reasons why students have a low assessment on curriculum and teaching lie in the poor abilityof some ethnic minority teachers’ Chinese teaching, students’ weak basic knowledge, the teaching lackingof pertinence, the outdated teaching methods, and the imperfect curriculum design; the lack of theawareness of active study and voluntary participation, teachers inclining to do the scientific research andlacking of teaching investment, students’ weak consciousness of interaction between teachers and students,insufficient attention to the process of education from some universities and other social restrictions arethe main reasons for the insufficiency of student engagement. Therefore, based on the reality of educationin Xinjiang, this study puts forward some suggestions to guarantee the training quality of the collegestudents of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang: to increase the quality of national elementary education, tostrengthen the preparatory teaching management, to build a language learning environment; to continue strengthening the teacher training force, to increase teachers’ payment and bring the outstanding talents, tobe strict in the recruitment of new teachers; to make proper arrangements for the teachers who lack of theChinese teaching ability, to use subcompartment teaching model, to reform the teaching methods, toimprove the curriculum system setting, to perfect the assessment and evaluation mechanism; to increasestudents’ autonomic learning consciousness, to reform teachers’ assessment standards, to strengthen theteacher-student interaction, to construct the support environment of campus.The value of this study lies in: to begin with, it is beneficial to enrich the basic theories of trainingquality of the college students of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang. In the second place, it is helpful to uncoverthe current problems and the deep reasons on the training quality. At the same time, the investigationprovides the reliable basis for building the training quality assurance system of the college students ofethnic minorities in Xinjiang. What’s more, it promotes the future development of national highereducation in Xinjiang, and finally does good to the long-term stability and harmonious development ofsociety in Xinjiang.
