Work pressure has become a popular phenomenon which has serious impact on mental and physical health, work and quality of life. In this paper, we investigate and study the work pressure of young middle school teachers by the method of questionnaire, and use the internal and external cause analysis method to provide some effective suggestions for the young middle school teachers. After conducting a questionnaire survey on104teachers from three middle schools in Wujiang District, we found33%of the interviewed teachers felt less stressful while67%felt stressful, and27.5%felt much more stressful. Additionally, we also found teachers in charge of classes felt more stressful than common teachers, the graduating class teachers felt more stressful than non-graduating class teachers, teachers who teach key courses felt more stressful than those teach common courses, women teachers felt more stressful than men teachers. There are two sources of work pressure, one is from outside stimulation, which is the external factors; the other is from the teachers themselves, namely internal. The external factors include seven aspects:the quality of teaching, students management, school system, curriculum reform, work load, economic status, interpersonal communication. The internal factors include personal values, mental and physical health, individual demand. By analysing the factors, we can know the internal and external factors interact to influence each other. If the two factors are handled well, the work pressure of teachers can be reduced. If not, the work pressure of teachers will be increased. If the society and schools can implement some decompression strategy, then the pressure intensity of teachers can be changed or relieved. But the relief work doesn’t really get the school and the society’s attention. In the three surveyed schools, only students’psychological health and learning pressure can be paid more attention to. Young teachers’work pressure has become more and more serious, they should cause the attention of society and school. In our opinion, we should focus on the following five aspects to improve young teachers’work pressure:(1) developing appraisal mechanism;(2) care of teachers;(3) respect for teachers autonomy, improve the management system;(4) create a green environment;(5) attention to the teachers’psychological education.
