Study On The Current Problems And Strategies In The Enrollment Of Chinese Higher Vocational Schools

In resent years, the enrollment difficulty has become one of the important factors inhindering the development of higher vocational schools. The prominent reason is that theenrollment plan can not be finished. Some schools have caught in a difficult situation becauseof the lack of enrolled students. Enrolling new students has become a key point just like“bottleneck for a bottle” for the development of higher vocational schools. On the other hand,with the increasingly diversified and rational development of social employment, the frontiertechnological and management personnel is rather lack, so there is a large demand for thehigher vocational graduates. To promote the development of higher vocational schools andmeet the need of society, and to cultivate better comprehensive talented persons for ourmodernization construction, it is necessary to carefully analyze the reasons of currentdifficulty, adopt relevant measures, break through the difficulties and practically solve thisproblem. This thesis tries to analyze the real situation and reasons in enrollment of highervocational schools. It also puts forward some constructive solutions, which provides somevaluable resources for the development of higher vocational education.There are five parts to present the current situation and strategies for the development ofhigher vocational enrollment.The first part is the background and the development of higher vocational schools. Itanalyzes the reasons of enrollment difficulty through historical reasons and socialdevelopment. Higher vocational education has promoted the development of society in aparticular period. With the development of society and the enrollment expansion, highervocational schools face new problems, which are the problems of social development. Highervocational schools produce because of the need of society, so it should reform and innovatewith the development of society in order to avoid elimination by the society.The second part is the analysis of the current problems and reasons of enrolling newstudents in higher vocational schools. The first is existed problems in enrolling new students.Today’s higher vocational schools have lost their brilliance and fall into a strange circlewithout development, at the same time large graduates and postgraduates enter the society, which have caused a serious impact on the development of higher vocational schools. A fewmain problems will be presented through several aspects:(I) the propaganda work is notenough in the process of enrolling, some people just focus on the appearance and do notconsider the essence of advertisement, which cause the confused feeling about highervocational schools, just like put the cart before the horse;(II) the influence of the collegeexpansion plan and the decreased number of students has caused the number of highervocational students less, so the decreased number of students becomes one of the mainproblems;(III) the low ratio of registration restricts the development of higher vocationalschools, in which the main reasons are the misleading propaganda and the blindness ofstudents’ filling the intention for university;(IV) the quality of students in higher vocationalschools is fairly low because of the policy of student enrolling for university in China. Sincethe last stage of enrolling students in higher vocational schools exists, the whole grade ofenrolled students is rather low, which cause the low quality of the whole group.The second is the analysis of reasons in enrolling students. From the development ofvocational schools in few years to the difficulties in the enrolling students, there are manyreasons from society and school, etc.(I) the imperfection of enrolling system influence thework of enrolling students;(II) the vague cognition degree for higher vocational schools andthe propaganda in a wrong way make people no comprehend and know it;(III) the collegeexpansion plan in China directly influence the less number of enrolling students in highervocational schools;(IV) the improper setup in courses and majors makes students no suitablefor the social economical development and the restriction of enrolling students;(V) thequality and number of teachers are lack in vocational schools, which influence theimprovement of students’ comprehensive quality and vocational skills, so it restricts thedevelopment of higher vocational schools.The third part is the comparison with many other foreign corresponding schools, mainlyin Europe, America, Japanese and South Korea. It tries to analyze the development directionthrough the comparison of foreign enrollment policies and methods. The key point is how tomake use of good methods and strategies to develop our higher vocational schools, topromote the completion of enrollment and to solve the difficult dilemma in higher vocationalenrollment. The fourth part is the suggestion for the future development of higher vocational schools.Based on the principle of meeting the social development needs, and ensuring adapting thesocial development needs, it tries to search diversified styles of enrolling new students fromhigher vocational schools themselves, from the point of quality-oriented education to developa real vocational education. School leaders should not use a vocational education as acamouflage, claim to develop professional education, but the result is no vocational personnel,professional personnel as well, which have a bad reputation for schools.The fifth part, based on the previous parts, is to explore how to solve series of problems,such as enrollment, cultivation and employment, and enhance a comprehensive educationalstrength in society from the perspective of social needs and cultivation of vocational abilities...
