This study puts the theory of positive psychology into group counseling, through designing, named "Discover That You Are Great" group counseling, study the role the counseling play in improving in three aspects:graduates’mental state, the virtues of strength and the overall well-being, so as to enrich the concept and paths of mental health education. The objects of this experiment are students from the Graduate School of Beijing University of Chemical Technology who voluntarily registered, and past the interview. All members are divided into two parts: one called the experimental group, the other called the comparison group. For two months, the experimental group received seven positive psychological group counseling while the comparison group were not taken any measures. Before group counseling, two members did three questionnaires about psychological tests, and after the group counseling, they did the same questionnaires, even two months later, and they did the same. At the end of each group counseling, members are required to talk about their harvest and feelings. Ultimately, according to compare the psychological test data horizontally and vertically to evaluate the effect of this group counseling. The results show that:the group counseling can improve the mental health of students, six kinds of virtues and strengths and24kinds of positive personality, as well as to improve the overall well-being, even the results can sustain certain long-term. While the mental health, virtue and strength, and positive personality, and overall well-being situation of comparison group do not change significantly. Based on the above discussion, this paper can be divided into four chapters. Among them, the first chapter discusses the research background, which includes three parts:the knowledge of positive psychology, the knowledge of group counseling and relationship between group counseling and the the ideological and political education; The second chapter describes the design of the research program; the third chapter discusses the process of group counseling, the results, and limitations of the experiment; the fourth chapter presents inspiration and draw advice.
