Cooperative inquiry teaching is a way for stud ents to master the independent learning skills, training students’ innovative spirit a nd the overall quality of teaching m ethods. Question design plays an important role in Cooperation Inquiry Teaching Approach. Whether the teachers can realize the teach ing objectives of New Curricu lum or not, whether the teaching procedures can be carried o ut smoothly or not, whether the teaching objectives can be realized or not, whether the students’ learning skills can be developed or not, whether the teachers’ teaching abilities can be improved or not all depend on the questions designed in the teaching. So far the teachers have realized the importance of Cooperation Inquiry T eaching Approach and carried it out in the teach ing practice consciously. However, there are some deficiencies existed in the questions put forward to in th e teaching. The subject of question design lacks of theory guiding and experience accumulating in the practice. As a teache r working in the rural middle school in Hainan province for 8 years, I am too well aware of the phenomenon. That’s why I choose question de sign in the Chinese Cooperative Inquiry Teaching as study subject. The study has a detail description and analysis of the deficiencies existed in the question design and how they come into being by means of literature study and case study. Relevant improved st eps are being advanced in th is paper to try to find out effective question design methods in Chinese teaching and promote the Chinese teaching in a more effective way.There are three parts in this paper. Part one is abou t concept, which cla rifies the definition and meaning of Question Design a nd Cooperation Inquiry Teaching and advances the principles to Question Design in Cooperati on Inquiry Teaching. Part two is a detailed analysis of the deficiencies existed in the question design in Chinese Cooperation Inquiry Teaching, which includes superficial, formalist, separated from the students and text reality, not strict enough and lack of system atic. The present situation of th e Chinese teaching in Hainan rural m iddle school is overwhelm ingly negative. The teach ing theory of question design is under-developed. The question design is separated from the basic Chine se skills. The feedback of the question design is no e nough. Part three is the reasons and relevant improved methods from three dimension, teachers, students and system. The Chinese teacher needs to improve the teaching ability of ques tion design, guide the students to form a good learning habit, and actively explore effective ways to assess classroom teaching.In conclusion, the thesis m akes pointed refere nces to the deficien cies existed in the question design in the Chinese Cooperative Inquiry Teaching, advances som e relevant improved strategies, and fully affirms that question design plays an important role in Chinese Cooperation Inquiry Teaching.
