Research On The Counselor Team Construction Of Independent College During Its Restructuring Period

As an innovation of China’s higher education system, independent institute(the second grade college) emerged at the right moment. Its development is paid great attention because it holds historical significance for the development of higher education in China. However, though independent institutes have made obvious achievements recently and cultivated a lot of creative talents, there is still a big gap between independent institutes and other traditional universities. Independent institutes still face lots of practical difficulties. “No. 26 Decree” of Ministry of Education regulates the development of independent institutes and point the way to its future growth. It is believed to be a fundamental way for independent institutes to transform into private colleges. Independent institutes begin to take shape and make achievements, but now they must be transformed and independent of their alma mater’s direct or operational guidance. There are still some original problems in independent institutes, especially the problems in training counselors. It is a key issue for counselors in independent institutes to adjust to this change and efficiently promote the development of ideological and moral education in the process of transformation.The researching subject of this thesis is the training of counselors in independent institutes in the process of transformation. This thesis makes a comprehensive analysis of the current situation and problems about counselor’s training in the period of transformation and puts forward to solutions. The first chapter is a brief introduction, introducing the background of this research, overseas and domestic research statues, research methods and steps. In the second chapter, through the definition of independent institute and its transformation, the author mentions the practical significance of counsel’s training in the independent institutes in the following three aspects. It can promote the sustainable development of independent institutes, improve the training of counselors, and develop the ideological and political education for students in the period of transformation. The third chapter takes the example of Institute of Technology East China Jiaotong University and explores the current situation of counselors through questionnaires. The fourth chapter takes the example of an institute and analyses the problems and solutions to the training of counselor in the period of transformation. The fifth chapters introduces two solutions to the training of counselors. First improve and standardize the construction of counselors regulation. And second optimize the counselors team. Therefore, we are required to realize the great urgency of counselor’s training in the period of transformation of independent institutes on the basis of strategic and whole perspective and the current situation of counselors. Through this research, the quality and competency of counselors in independent institutes can be improved, and the ideological and political education for students can be processed efficiently. In this way, students can develop themselves comprehensively and their study and job pressure can be relieved. The leaping development for independent institutes after its transformation are really practically significant.
