The specific requirements of “process and method” objective have been proposed in the new mathematics curriculum standard, the effective implementation of “process and method” objective for junior middle school mathematics teachers is conducive to improving ability of mathematical thinking and problem solving ability. Based on literature,the current situation of “process and methods” curriculum objectives was sorted out,combined with learning goals in grade 7 to 9, The “process and method” objective can be divided into two dimensions, one is“Mathematical thinking”, the other is “Problem Solving”, and each dimension has four specific requirements; Elated questionnaire was designed and utilized to investigate the status of implementation, reasons and factors of the “process and method” objective. The last part is the conclusion. Many teachers pay great attention to “Mathematical thinking”and “Problem Solving” but encounter many difficulties in implementing.They waste much but gain little, so many of them get back to the conventional teaching mode; The teachers’ age, title and training all badlyinfect the implementation of the “process and method” objective. The author gives out some suggestions based on the study: perfecting the implementation of this objective in the teaching practice; Carrying out more post- training; Enhancing pre-theoretical study and mastering more knowledge of the new curriculum.
