With the development of the information age, the integration of information technology and the curriculum has become a key point of the development and reform of education, and this also promotes the widely application of inquiry teaching used in teaching activities. Geography requires students to have a strong sense of space to some geographical terms that are more abstract and more difficult to imagine, to understand. Google Earth software, for its visual image and large amount of information is been used in Geography Inquiry teaching. It brings a new experience which is completely different from the traditional teaching to teachers and students, and helps more in geography knowledge learning for students.On the basis of literature research, the author get the knowledge of the current research situation about Google Earth’s application to the middle school geography teaching. Then, combined with the theory basis of experience study theory and constructivism, the thesis studies on the teaching process of inquiry pedagogy of middle school geography based on Google Earth, and analyzes the strategies and methods for teaching design in each section. This is followed by the design and implementation of teaching scheme. By analyzing classroom observation and interview, the author get the effect of implementation, the existing shortage of inspection, and comes up with the modification strategies. The thesis aims to provide some teaching support in teaching method aspect for middle school geography teachers, and further more, to improve the present geography teaching mode. This thesis mainly contains the following chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the research background, related literature review, its research significance and research methods; in the literature review, it is mainly summarized the definition of inquiry teaching, and introduce of the Google Earth software. The review for the current status of the application of Google Earth in geography teaching domestic and abroad is also explain in this part.In the second chapter, on the basis of relevant theory of strategy, it elaborated the design principle, design process and strategies about inquiry teaching of middle school geography based on Google Earth.The third chapter, based on the previously proposed design process about Google Earth which is used in inquiry teaching in the middle school geography, combined with the specific teaching content, the author designed the teaching plan and put it into practice. And then collects the relevant data and analyses the teaching effect by using the way of classroom observation, test and interview.The fourth chapter mainly summarizes the present research and put forward the conclusion, points out that there are still shortcomings, and make prospects.
