High school students are lack of life experience, without much going through. Learning foreign literature can not only enrich their life experience, but also stimulate their emotions. Analysis the current status of secondary schools’ study on teaching foreign language literature, discovering the works of foreign language has not caused enough attention from teachers and students. It did not play such an important role as Chinese traditional culture education. The phenomenon of neglecting their teaching role is very serious, and there has been a very critical problem in the teaching of foreign literature. Under the circumstances of the current popularity of the new curriculum, a depth study on teaching problem of foreign works is necessary and meaningful.This thesis is divided into four parts: The first part is an introduction, including research origin; the present status of the study; the issue discussed in this thesis; research significance and research methods. The second part describes the problem, what problem is. First to sort the development history of foreign literature getting into our high school textbooks. Then analyze the profile of current status of foreign literature in textbooks, from the table of contents, number, genre, author nationality, classification and scheduling system function value, attempting a comprehensive summary on the selection of foreign literature in textbooks. Finally, by analyzing the current teaching status, to present the teaching problems of foreign literature. The third part is to analyze the causes of the problems. This section analysis from three perspectives, the first is the conflict on ideology, namely the confrontation between localization and foreign consciousness, which is the irresistible factor in terms of textbook editors, teachers, or students. Secondly, from the teachers’ point of view, due to lack of teachers’ awareness of the importance on foreign literature in the past long-term, as well as the single and fixed understanding on foreign works, which has resulted great teaching problem. Third, analyzing from the background of the current educational environment. Under the influence of traditional examination and evaluation system and the evaluation mechanisms for secondary school teachers, the teachers have to focus on teaching the key points of exam and the students are forced to focus on learning high scores emphasis, which result in foreign literature’s inevitably being left out. The fourth part is the strategy of problem solving, namely the advice on a selection of textbooks, raising awareness of the understanding of foreign literature, emphasizing on literary, humanistic of works, and paying attention to guide students’ interest in reading.
