The selection problem of high school Chinese elective teachingtextbooks always restrict the compilation work of Chinese textbook,because reasonable selected passages are not only beneficial tostudents’ acceptance of literature, but also affects teachers’teaching quality. The reasonable selected passages and goodteaching are helpful to cultivate high-quality talents. In recent years,with the reform of Chinese teaching, more and more foreign literatureworks have been selected in high school Chinese textbooks. Selectedpassages should follow the principle that the common bases areunified with the various choices, and pay attention to inherit, developand expand the outstanding culture of the Chinese nation, withunderstanding and respecting the diversity of culture. But there havebeen some unscientific and unreasonable problems in the currentelective foreign works which are selected in high school Chineseteaching materials. High school is the stage for students to formvalues, and reasonable selected passages and high quality teachingcan not only improve middle school students’ language literacy andhumanistic quality, but also help students form good values andprovide good theoretical accumulations after getting into the society.In this paper, according to the analysis of the selected foreignliterature works in the middle school elective teaching materials and the teaching, some suggestions and countermeasures are providedfor editors.The thesis is divided into introduction, body and conclusion. Theintroduction mainly gives the domestic literature view about theselected foreign literature works in the high school elective teachingtextbooks and the teaching, and put forward the aim of the research.The body part is composed of three parts. The first part is givenfrom the historical perspective of high school elective teachingtextbooks, which combs the history of foreign literary works intohigh school Chinese elective textbooks from the vertical direction.The second part makes an analysis about the present situationsand existent problems of the selected foreign literature works in thehigh school elective teaching textbooks and the teaching, andsummarizes the existing problems on the basis of analyzing thepresent situation. Basing on the analysis of the second part, thethird part puts forward the countermeasures for the selected foreignliterature works in elective teaching textbooks and the teaching. Theglobalization of the world is in need of high-quality talents, andreasonable selection of foreign works and teaching can help tocultivate the talents who have a full understanding on both Chineseand foreign culture. The conclusion part summarizes the full textthat the reasonable selected passages are good for students’acceptation of foreign literary works, and the high quality teachingis helpful to the improvement of new Chinese young generation. It isbeneficial to improve students’ overall quality and contract highschool students’ noble values.
