As everyone knows, in recent years, the number of students with English learning difficulties in middle school is becoming larger and larger. This has become a headache problem for many English teachers and parents. The students have many problems in learning English because of many different kinds of reasons. For example, some students don’t have learning interest and motivation, and they can’t have a good knowledge of English or study English with good learning methods. So they can’t study English effectively and become the students with English learning difficulties. However, some middle schools and teachers overemphasize the graduation rate, and some parents don’t pay attention to the education of low achievers, ignoring their study. Thus, such problems hinder the quality education. Therefore, through conduction investigation and analysis on the formation reasons of students with English learning difficulties, the author is intended to come up with the transforming strategies to resolve such issues so as to provide referential and directional guidance to the future English teaching work. tion and strategies.es on the students with English learning difficulties in No.4 Middle School School in Baishan, Jilin. The study is based on the research of low achievers at home and abroad and the multiple-intelligence theory and constructivist theory. According to the characteristics of English teaching and the request of the New English Curriculum Standard, through testing and comparative analysis method, and questionnaire surveys of middle school students, English teachers and parents, the author find out the formation reasons of the poor students. On the one hand, as far as external factors are concerned, it might be resulted from one of the factors among school, family and society or from comprehensive educational failure. On the other hand, from individual perspective of students, students with learning difficulties are often reluctant to learn, unable to learn or unaware of how to learn. These individual factors can be summarized as learning motivation factor, cognitive factor and strategic factor. Therefore, the author are intended to combine these elements together comprehensively and then come up with feasible transformation strategies based on the analysis result generated from the research on students with English learning difficulties in Baishan No. 4 Middle School. Firstly, insist to build up students’ confidence in all aspects and alter the traditional teaching mode. Secondly, pay attention to inspire the internal learning motivation out of the students. We should ensure students are expecting for achievement and success in their heart. Moreover, we should win the support from parents and help students form good learning habits as soon as possible, to improve their academic performances.The thesis consists five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background of the present research and the research purpose and significance. The second chapter is the literature review and it also provides an overview of the students with learning difficulties at home and abroad. The third part describes the data-collection and data-analysis on the formation of poor students in English. Chapter four covers the transformation strategies. The last part is the summary of this thesis.
