This research was studied base on the characteristics of vocational school students and the demand of professional skills of all sectors of society for students, and teaching hardware and software facilities of the secondary vocational school, adopts the project teaching method in the teaching practice of graphic design course. During the process of completing the project practice, with autonomous learning, group discussion, the use of knowledge and skills, students can experience the hardships and happiness of innovation, the classroom teaching effect improves obviously. With the project teaching method, it improves the students’ comprehensive ability effectively.This research is to clarify the feasibility of the application of project teaching method in the course of a project of vocational school level, combines project teaching methods with the traditional teaching methods, modern teaching measures and instructional medias skillfully, improves the effect of teaching graphic design course. Through the research and analysis on the introduction and collection of project information, formulation and confirmation of the project plan, implementation and evaluation and feedback of project.This paper surveys process of implementation of the project teaching methods completely, Through the production of "packaging design" teaching case, according to this study, Basing on the 2012 graphic design class one(the control class) and the 2012 graphic design class two (the experimental class). The students are adopted the experimental object, comparative analysis of various aspects to carry out the teaching effect by using the method of questionnaire research method, investigation and experiment, through the comparative analysis, we can draw the conclusion:in "graphic design" course, using the project teaching method in the class than the traditional teaching method in the class, no matter the enthusiasm, the initiative of students, teaching atmosphere, the overall effect, there are obvious enhance the students awareness of the team, it becomes more and more stronger, learning enthusiasm and initiative stronger, autonomous and cooperative, interactive inquiry learning ability are greatly enhanced.
