In the early of 21 st century, the Central Committee of the State Council promulgated the new math curriculum standards in which included two new concepts, that is, course and course standards. The new math curriculum also required that curriculum standards, curriculum objectives, curriculum content and curriculum requirements should make significant changes. Since there is a great change in high school mathematics teaching, teaching materials, the teaching tools of teachers and learning materials of high school students, inevitably draw the attention of the educators. In order to meet the teaching needs in different areas, our country encouraged people of relevant departments to write new teaching materials. So,as for the learning materials now there exists a phenomenon in different areas “one basis, several versions”.Now, our high school mathematics textbooks, in the new curriculum standards have five different versions, namely: People’s education press version A & version B published by the People’s Education Press, Beijing Normal University Press version published by Beijing Normal University Press, A Normal University directly under the central authorities, JiangSu Education Press version and Hunan Education Press version, among which the most popular is People’s Education Press version A. Each version of the textbooks has its own advantages and disadvantages. Taking the ongoing education reform into account, we need to inherit the advantages of the previous reforms and abandon the shortcomings, therefore it is necessary to compare and analyze the textbooks and teaching methods. Considering the lack of time and the overload of comparing all kinds of materials, the writer only takes People’s Education Press Version A and the Beijing Normal University Press Version as examples.In order to further study the teaching material and mathematics teaching, here, in the essay, the writer chooses logarithmic function--one of the basic elementary function of high school mathematics textbooks to start comparing, respectively from the main content, build concepts, examples, and other aspects of the logarithmic function of these two textbooks; on this basis, the author also compares the teaching cases,corresponding to different materials in different teaching are compared, and finally produced on the“logarithmic function” teaching thinking and practice; Finally, the writer comes to the conclusion that the two textbooks, especially the teaching material of logarithmic function, has its own advantages and disadvantages, based on what the students have commanded in KaiFeng high school and ShangCai NO.1high school by using the method of interview and papers. Teachers should learn from others’ strong points to offset his/her own weakness during teaching to achieve the best effects.
