With the rapid development of information technology in education, the application of the technology in teaching has become more and more popular. Nowadays, teaching with only chalk and blackboard is still be the teaching method in some small rural schools in poor areas of northwest China. Though most teachers there have already realized the significant role multi-media plays in prompting the effect of their teaching, due to the inconvenience brought by collecting teaching resources, the longtime spends in making courseware,the limitation that teachers can only teach according to what they have added in the ware and cannot change teaching process and the and lack of interact with teaching machines and students, the usage of computer assisted multi-media in daily teaching in these areas seems not the same as what we likes.The introduction of interactive whiteboard into classroom has been bringing a revolutionary change to the teaching in these areas. The whiteboard conduct is easy and convenient. Teachers just have to properly prepare the teaching resources that needed, then can they use these resources freely in their classes in whatever ways as wanted with less processing and modification.Based on the research method of data studies and case analysis, combined with teaching practice, the author of this thesis conducted an applicative research with the theme of application of interactive whiteboard to English teaching in elementary school in rural areas. This thesis aims to find strategies on how to use interactive whiteboard efficiently in each teaching period in daily English class and provide references for teachers in the same situation. Take Donview Board as example, consider the characteristics of English teaching in elementary school, the author make research background clear, research theories reasonable. Then the advantages for the functions of the interactive whiteboard are analyzed. All of these will pave path for the further research, that is, the design of teaching plan and the practice of this plan. Resources collection and teaching reflection, redesign, re-practice and the repeat of this procedure is followed. Then there is the analysis of two teaching cases from the aspect of teaching steps: lead-in, presentation, drill and consolidation. The conclusion of the research is summarized from the analysis and the questionnaire.
