With the rapid development of information and technology, multimedia, as a commonly used teaching form, is widely used in middle school English classroom. However, there are many shortcomings and defects existed in the application of multimedia. Whether the multimedia teaching is effective or not directly affects the quality of classroom teaching. Nowadays there are many investigations about the situation of multimedia teaching, but there are very few articles about the reasons and countermeasures of the lack of effectiveness in multimedia, classroom, especially about the senior high school English classroom teaching, which asks the depth of research. This research takes the arts and science class’s students and the whole English teacher of Senior Two in Tianshui No.1 Middle School as the research objects. Combined with some specific conditions, this research designs the questionnaires and interview outlines of teachers and students, and deals with the results of the survey scientifically and reasonably, in order to have a comprehensive analysis of the multimedia teaching situation. After that, this research tries to find out the influencing factors and put forward the corresponding measures to improve the quality of multimedia teaching.This article is divided into six parts.The first part is " Introduction ". It includes the background, the purposes and significance of the study, literature review, and the main contents and methods of the study.The second part is " The Related Theory Study ". It includes the definition of some concepts, and some related theory like multimedia learning cognitive study theory and teaching optimization theory.The third part is about "A Survey of Multimedia Teaching in Senior High School English Classroom ". According to some certain dimensions, this research designs the teachers’ questionnaire and students’ questionnaire respectively. Then through the study of questionnaire survey of the English teachers and the arts and science students in senior two, and take the interview between teachers and students as a supplement, this study finds and analyzes the status and the problems of multimedia teaching.The fourth part is " Reasons of the Lack of Effectiveness of Multimedia Teaching in Senior High School English Classroom ". This research tries to analyze the factors affecting the effectiveness of multimedia classroom teaching from the aspects of teachers, students and school, especially from the teacher’s aspect.The fifth part is " Countermeasures of the Lack of Effectiveness of Multimedia Teaching in Senior High School English Classroom ". For reasons of the lack of the effectiveness of multimedia teaching in Senior High English classroom, this article puts forward some related strategies:renew teachers’ idea of multimedia teaching and highlight the dominant position of students; rich teachers’ knowledge and strengthen their ability of multimedia teaching; correct teachers’ attitude towards multimedia classroom teaching; change students’ attitude and method of learning; improve the management work of multimedia teaching; increase the intensity of training for teachers and establish evaluation mechanism of multimedia teaching.The sixth part is " Conclusion ". This part draws a conclusion of this research, points out the shortcomings, and presents prospect of the follow-up in the research.
