The Study On The Assessment Of The General Certificate Of Secondary Education Biology Examination

General Certificate of Secondary Education examination is a criterion-referenced test, it is the comprehensive appraisal of students in the end of compulsory education about th-eir knowledge and skill level, and for teachers and students, parents, high level schools and employers to provide comprehensive information of teaching results.After several reform, the GCSE biology exam has formed a "knowledge, skills and understanding" as the dominant idea in evaluation system. The thesis is the in-depth study on the evaluation system of the GCSE biology exam through literature analysis and com-parative study to provide experience and lessons for the biology academic proficiency ex-am under the background of a new round of enrollment system reform of the examination.First of all, The thesis simply introduced GCSE examination system.Secondly, it translated the evaluation system about "knowledge, skills and understanding" from the "National Curriculum", "GCSE Subject Criteria for Biology" and "GCSE Biology Specification for exams". Then it analyzed the question paper of GCSE based on the evaluation system. In the end,it concluded several features of the evaluation system on the GCSE biology exam about "knowledge, skills and understanding", and put forward the beneficial reference and enlightenment to promote the China’s biology academic proficiency exam.
