Since the adoption of the reform and opening-up policy, tourism has been significantly developed. The education concerning the tourism, however, has more or less declined in the number of the tourism colleges, specialists in tourism and the low employment. Why there is a declination behind the booming business? Among the various reasons is the fact that tourism has enjoyed bleak acceptance and employment intention both from students and the society. Unlike the Education, Nursing and the Social Work which have draw great attentions of researchers, the Hotel Management seems to be neglected. At present, the gap between supply and demand of talents in Hotel Management has become aggravated. Thus, it is worth to probe the acceptance and employment intention of the students majoring in Hotel Management.The study makes a investigation about TourismCollege in FujianNormalUniversity, TourismSchool in FujianCommercialCollege,Fuzhou vocational and technical college and other technical secondary schools in Fuzhou. Basing on the questionnaire conducted in the technical secondary schools, vocational colleges and universities,, the study makes comparisons on the the acceptance of the graduates, its influential factors and the employment intention of students, as follows.1、It is dim in the the acceptance and employment intention of the students majoring Hotel Management.2、The students from the technical secondary schools are more reluctant to accept their majors but more willing to take jobs related to the Hotel Management than that from the vocational colleges and universities.3、Among different levels of educational institutes, there are various differences caused by sex, family incomes, school performances and places they come from. Males from the technical secondary schools show higher acceptance than females, while females from the vocational colleges and universities,in contrast, display more interests than males. Students with high family incomes, or good school performances,or from the urban areas exhibit less interests in their major than that with low family incomes, or poor school performances,or from the suburban areas. The study finds that various factors account for the phenomenon, including the motivation in adopting the major, the understanding of the major, the evaluation of the specialty construction and the value of the major. And the study also points out that four factors, namely salary, the vacation system,the welfare package and the career development,exert great impacts on the employment intention made by students.On the base of the analysis, the study puts forward various suggestions on the improvement of the acceptance and the employment intention of students majoring in the Hotel Management from the angle of students, schools and society.
