Changing the high school students to learn history by rote methods and concerning the development of historical consciousness is a core task of history curriculum reform . In our high school history teaching, the cultivation of students' historical consciousness hasn't been received sufficient attention for a long time. What is the historical consciousness? What is specific performance of high school students' historical consciousness? How do we cultivate the historical consciousness in the history teaching? Many history teachers don't have clear concept and thinking.Historical consciousness is the view that people treat history or the revelation of the history given to the people. It not only embodies the concepts and methods for thinking, but also history cognition, history emotion, history attitudes, history reflection as well as other aspects of history. Historical consciousness has the following roles in the history teaching. First, it can help students develop a healthy personality. Second ,it is helpful to improve the capacity of high school students' history thinking. Third ,it is contribute to the formation of good high school students' civic awareness.The cultivation of historical consciousness in the history teaching has been the concern of many countries in the world. Contemporary different versions history textbooks of China's high school also infiltrated the cultivation of historical consciousness in the content. It mainly represented the evaluation of historical figures, the use of historical materials, civilization history and global history and so on. However, we tend to neglect the cultivation of high school students' historical consciousness in our practice of history classroom teaching .First of all, the teaching methods of the majority history teachers are still traditional, it is not conducive for the students to obtain the history knowledge independently .Secondly ,most of the teaching content repeat the textbooks so that it makes the students lack their own history awareness and it is difficult to form correct historical consciousness. Third, many questions asked in the teaching are in a mere formality, it will not achieve the role of training and developing students' history thinking ability. Finally,as a result of deviation of the awareness, the history materials only became a"decorative", it didn't play the role of training students' historical consciousness. Nevertheless, according to my investigate , the attitude of high school students learning about the history has changed. As the growth of the grade ,the interests in learning history are prompting .However ,many high school students are still used to learning book knowledge by heart on the historical figure or historical events, but not good at thinking. Some students are biased to the history issues and there is no correct understanding of history and so on. It is clear that the historical consciousness of high school students need be cultivated in the history teaching.To foster historical consciousness of high school students in the history teaching, attention should be paid to change the teaching methods. We can use the case teaching to strengthen the historical consciousness of high school students. We can strengthen the dialogue teaching based on historical materials and promote the formation of historical consciousness. Through the activities of student-centered teaching, we can promote high school students to develop historical consciousness.
