Mathematics is an important part of human culture, and mathematical literacy is every people should have the basic literacy. In fact, mathematical literacy is students use mathematical knowledge to solve problems and use their ability to adapt to the life of society, which is curriculum reform requirements of students’ abilities match.Thus, students’ mathematics literacy is one of the important goals of curriculum reform.The study take Dali Weishan County, Maanshan Junior High School, Dacan school, Niujie school, Wuyin school, rearch eighth grader students of four middle schools, and interviews with school leaders. The main contents are mathematical literacy Investigation of Weishan County Yi students, through investigation and testing, to explore the same cultural background, differences Yi students and other students of mathematics literacy, gender differences in mathematical literacy of students. Objective is to understand the present condition of the Yi Minority Students on mathematical literacy for education which provides practical teaching recommendations to improve the situation, improve the level of education in Ethnic Areas.Study conclusions, Weishan County Yi sutdengts’ level of students’ mathematical literacy is relatively low, and in some dimensions reflect the gender and ethnic differences. Reflected in, the subjects of different sex school students showed that there were statistically significant differences in mathematics,mathematics situations, mathematical process; students of different ethnic differences in mathematical content and mathematical processes, but the situation is not mathematics there is a difference.Hope this research by teachers of concern, especially Weishan County teachers attention, expectation findings can guide them to reflect on their own teaching.
