The shadow play, containing a long history of thousands of years, is a precious intangible cultural heritage in China. It consists of a mixture of oral folk tradition, folk music, play and fine arts. The shadow puppet art is considered as a microcosm of historical culture in Chang De, which is a representative sample. As is required by Ministry of Education, based on the features of Chang De, the shadow play has been used in class. This process will make great contributions to exploring the puppet art and attaching the folk art to the development of times and the need of reality.This thesis mainly based on the current situation of the elementary school fine arts teaching, focusing on the problems in it and analyzing the reasons, eventually drew a conclusion that Chang De shadow play is necessary and feasible in teaching. Then the thesis will discuss the related development and practice of shadow play into class teaching, hoping for being a reference to explore the development of folk art into the classroom.The thesis consists of four chapters. Chapter one is the introduction. Chapter two is the conclusion to the aesthetic value about the Chang De shadow play. In chapter three, the author conducted the questionnaire and analyzed the current situation in Chang De teaching with the aid of shadow play and its courses. Chapter four, based on the results and practical teaching experience, the author discussed the principles and approaches in developing the elementary school fine arts teaching. In the end, the author mainly introduced several typical and effective examples concerning shadow play teaching.Chapter five,summary and reflection.
