With the development of the society, the high school curriculum in our country is undergoing a new reform, this reform put forward in the high school of arts and sciences division problems. In the "Long-term Education Reform and Development Plan" of draft, whether to cancel the division of Arts and Sciences has been formally put forward and the topic becomes the focus of discussion from all walks of life once again.This study discussed the problems of The division of arts and sciences through the following six parts: the first chapter, which is introduction, briefly describes the domestic and foreign research background of this paper, significance, purpose, and the research methods. The second chapter is the history of the division of arts and sciences at home and abroad, mainly from the division of arts and sciences of the late Qing period to the condition of the division of arts and sciences of the founding of New China’s history. The third chapter is about the debate of the advantages and disadvantages of the division of arts and sciences, this chapter describes the controversy among experts, teachers, parents and students about the division of arts and sciences, further analyse the advantages and disadvantages of it, and illustrate the necessity to abolish the division of arts and sciences. Chapter 4 is the questionnaire, the article made two questionnaires: one is a survey of views on the division of arts and science of high school, the second is a survey on the factors affecting the selection of high school students. Elaborating the purpose of the two questionnaire surveys, statistics, and the purpose of the analysis results.The fifth chapter elaborates the impact on students of arts and sciences division by showing the influence of cross subject result, the influence of students’ personality, the students knowledge structure, the influence of fairness to the university entrance exam. Chapter 6 is the conclusion and the suggestion, the author put forward three suggestions for liberal arts in families as well as the six aspects about the suggestions to improve the college entrance examination system.The division of arts and sciences can not adapt to today’s high school curriculum reform, the development of high school students and the demand for social progress. The high school of Arts and sciences should be integrated appropriately and the entrance system should also be reform.
