On the background of the cancel of division into arts and sciences in high school, a study on subjects setting in CEE (college entrance examination) and its implementation is very theoretical and practical. Meanwhile, the study is related to reality and policy, because of not only its relations to the development and stability of our country but its close tie to the interests of students, teachers, high schools and colleges. Its implementation condition has direct influence on the whole educational system.In the first part, the evolution of the division into arts and sciences in high school and subjects setting in CEE is discussed. There are 4 typical models on subjects setting in CEE:"6 art subjects +7 science subjects ";"3+2"based on general examination; "3+X"and"3+X"on the background of new curriculum standards. Then the author points disadvantages of the cancel of division into arts and sciences and analyzes the necessity of the division into arts and sciences in high school. At last, the relationship between the cancel of division and subject setting in CEE is discussed.In the second part, the research on subjects setting and pilot implementation scheme is introduced. The author analyzes new subjects setting in CEE and the subjects setting in both Shanghai and Zhejiang,2 pilot districts in subjects setting reform. Three positive effects on scheme of subjects setting in CEE on the background of the cancel of division into arts and sciences in high school are discussed. It expands the two-way choice right of universities and students. It shifts from single evaluation to comprehensive evaluation. The CEE will be closely tied to reform and development of basic education and higher education. Then the author sums up two problems about implementation plan of subjects setting in CEE on the background of the cancel of division into arts and sciences in high school. One is that how to grade students in high school achievement test scientifically. The other one is that how to make students choose subject without a little utilitarian.In the third part, the conditions of subjects setting in college entrance examination abroad are discussed. The paper reveals the current situations of ACT, SAT in the United States, CEE both in Germany and in Great Britain. These situations enlighten the level judgment in academic proficiency test and give ways to lead students to choose subjects without utility.In the last part, the implementation of subjects reform in CEE is discussed. From the views of students, high schools and colleges, this part seeks the right implementation way applicable domestically. In order to choose CEE subjects truly suits themselves, high school students should establish correct subjects-choosing value and strengthen their ability to choose. In order to adapt to the changes brought by subjects setting reform, high school should update teaching pattern and improve teaching organization in time. Meanwhile, allocating teaching staff scientifically and guiding students to choose subjects reasonably are also high schools’ task. According to their different targets on researching directions, colleges can decide their subjects which should be tested. Both colleges in different levels and majors in different groups must fix subjects in CEE clearly.At last, the study on cancel of division into arts and sciences and subjects setting in CEE,2 focuses through the whole educational system, try to put forward some advice on the implementation of the reforming subjects setting in CEE.
