Music literacy, as a fundamental music theory and practice course, plays an indispensable role in learning music. It aims at cultivating students’ musical aesthetic sense,expressive ability, and creativity, and improving their comprehensive quality of music to achieve an all-round development of musical ability. Based on the research object of Children’s Music Literacy curriculum, this thesis examines the teaching situation, curriculum design, and teaching practice of Children’s Music Literacy. In combination with the theory of Multiple Intelligences and with reference to the top three foreign music pedagogies, this thesis explores the teaching goals, teaching content, and teaching methods of the curriculum. Based on the comparison and analysis of the results of teaching practice, this thesis attempts to design a systematic and rich teaching content which addresses children’s learning needs. Lastly, this thesis attempts to explore a new and interesting teaching method that suits children physically and mentally.This thesis includes three chapters, in addition to introduction and conclusion. The first chapter discusses the domestic teaching situation of Children’s Music Literacy, and the possible issues with the current teaching situation. This chapter also introduces the characteristics and teaching content of the top three foreign music pedagogies, and the enlightenment toward this curriculum. The second chapter, as key part of this thesis, mainly focusing on the curriculum design of Children’s Music Literacy, introduces the principles and thoughts of curriculum design, and explicitly explores the characteristics of curriculum design from the perspectives of teaching content, teaching pace, and teaching evaluation. Based on the aforementioned chapters, Chapter Three discusses the teaching practice, and analysis and summarizes the teaching result. The significance and implications of this research are discussed at Conclusion.
