In the context of modernization, globalization and informationization, more and more professional talents with higher-level and applied knowledge are required and needed in all walks of life. In Oct, 2011, Academic Degree Commission of the State Council approved the right of first 5 private colleges and universities, one of which was Xijing University, to carry out professional masters’ degree education programs. Although this is merely the pilot program, the announcement has been the milestone in Chinese master education, because the privileges are no longer belonged to the public ones exclusively. However, with the continual expanding of professional masters’ degree education, the public begin to focus on the quality of it. Especially, for those private colleges with special identifications and no experience of conducting master degree education, it is of great necessity for them to concentrate on the quality of master degree education.On the basis of the quality evaluation standard of graduate education, and the first grade assessment indicator in The Nation’s Assessment Scheme on the Cultivation Quality of Masters Majoring in Engineering, and learn from the existing research achievements,combined my work,the author mainly analyzes and investigates the current situation and problems existing in professional masters’ cultivation of H university. Specifically, there are 6 research aspects in total which are the source of students, courses and teaching, tutors and their guidance, professional practice, academic dissertations, and the management and service toward postgraduates. In order to fulfill those set aims, the author conducts the study with the much literature review, author’s personal capability, questionnaires, personal interview, and so on.The results derived from the analysis of the data obtained from questionnaires by SPSS, and materials or documents got from interviews demonstrate that the great improvement has been achieved in professional masters’ cultivation of some private colleges or universities in China. However, it can’t be denied that some troubles or obstacles exerting impacts on the teaching and learning quality still remain. For instance, levels of students are lower, courses are less cutting-edge, teaching methods are less rich,effect of guidance is not obvious because of the part tutors’ lack of guidance experience,outside-school practice bases are less satisfied with, outside-school tutors’ guidance cannot be guaranteed, and the service quality toward postgraduates is lower. Finally, in order to greatly better the current cultivation situation and sustainably improve the teaching quality of professional masters, some practical solutions to the above-mentioned problems are proposed by the author. In detail, they are respectively enhancing the source of students, modifying teaching qualities of some certain courses, strengthening the training and evaluation of tutors, strengthening the construction of the practice bases, implementing the “double tutorial system”, intensifying postgraduates’ management, and increasing postgraduates’ service quality.
