The research on the modernization of education system in modern China between1927 and 1937 is conductive not only to expanding and deepening the field of historical research, but also to providing some useful references for the modernization of contemporary Chinese education. Based on the archival documents about the history of the Republic of China, combined with the theory of history, education and other related disciplines, modernization of Chinese education system in 1927-1937 has been systematically expounded in this paper.1927-1937 is an important stage of development in the process of the modernization of education in modern China, and the modernization of education embodied during this period in its modern education system. From 1927 to 1937, the domestic political situation is relatively stable, the state of the economy gradually improved, which provides important foundation for the modern education system. And since the westernization movement to 1927, the development of modern education in China has been more than 60 years, the development of new education needs the system to be improved and the realization of the modernization of education system is the objective requirement of the development of education itself. At the same time, the world’s major countries set off a wave of education reform, the wave inevitably affects China, and promote the modernization of the education system has become an important task of the National Government to respond to crises and challenges can not be circumvented. This paper explains the contents of the modern Chinese education system in modern China from four aspects, such as the concept, system, standard and operation.This is the innovation of this paper. On the basis of the content of the modernization of Chinese education system between 1927-1937, this paper summarizes the characteristics of the modern education system in modern China between 1927-1937,further change from the rule of man to the rule of law, education system of secular color increasingly rich, internationalization and localization go hand in hand; Analyzed the modern education system in modern China between 1927-1937 the positive significance and limitations, the positive significance in particular is to promote the complete education system of the republic of China and provides the system safeguard for the education of the republic of China development, enhances the young student’s main body consciousness at that time, also laid the foundation for wartime education development. In the process of the modernization of education system of the Nanjing National Government, there is a lack of democratization, reform of education system lack of persistence and limitations, which can not meet the needs of all-round development of society. However, in spite of his flaws, the modernization of education system of the Nanjing National Government between 1927-1937 is of positivesignificance for the development of Chinese society which can be regarded as a microcosm of the modernization of modern Chinese social change process in system level. It has an important referential significance for the modernization of chinese education system. The modernization of the education system is an indispensable part of the education modernization, which directly affects the success or failure of the education modernization.
