With constantly promoting the process of curriculum reform, PE teachers’ competence has become the focus of research scholars. This article embarks from the actual Guiyang middle school physical education teachers, based on the competency theory, draw lessons from existing research results, through questionnaire investigation, interview and mathematical statistics methods, such as basic structure analysis for Guiyang middle school PE teachers’ competency, Guiyang middle school PE teachers of different levels of PE teachers’ competency of comparative analysis, Guiyang middle school PE teachers’ competency and new and old men and women PE teachers’ competency analysis of four aspects, aims to explore high school sports teachers’ current competencies cause analysis,and put forward reasonable countermeasures. Results show that: firstly, most of middle school in Guiyang with PE teachers’ competency structure, competence characteristics showed a single state, other features of competent performance is not obvious. Secondly, Guiyang city high school physical education teachers in teachers have different level of competency. The influence of the individual characteristics of sports teacher competence level has significant difference. Third, Guiyang middle school female physical education teachers have good teaching ability, reasonable ratio would be helpful to the development of PE teachers’ competency. Fourth,there are differences between the old and new sports teacher teachers, on the whole old teacher is better than that of new teachers, new teacher is better than the old teacher on personality traits.
