With the continual enrollment expansion of colleges, our high education is gradually going into mass education from elite education. The growth of students has brought about higher student/teacher ratio, and college teachers are bearing heavy load on their shoulders, their vitality is insufficient. This influences the quality of high education extremely. Teachers are the core force of college teaching work. Under the background of large-scale enrollment expansion in colleges, it’s very crucial to build a teacher ranks with reasonable construction and high level, for improving the quality of high education. In January 2007, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance jointly published “About the higher school undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform project”. It proposed and emphasized the aim and task about building the teaching team clearly. The number 2 papers after that further cleared concrete contents and steps, giving solid policy safeguard for construction and development of teaching teams in colleges. There are lots of achievements about building and development of teaching team in many colleges. Meanwhile, there’re a few problems which affect its development and perfecting. For ensuring its running and development, it’s necessary to study the operation and mechanism of teaching team.The study sorts out literature be related to teaching team in university carefully first, and deeply analyses the connotation, function, operation essential factors and the relation among them of teaching team. Then acquires materials by semi-structural interview, and keeps abreast of current development in course and team building about teaching team M in university X after sorting and analyzing data. And then analyzes its way of member selecting, the state of cooperation among teachers, funds situation and evaluation status, incentive and feedback status and so on combined with these factors. It found that there’re a good deal of problems such as the selection of members is little optional, the cooperation is unclosed, the sense of incentive is not reasonable, the way of evaluation exists deviation and the granting of funds isn’t timely, which are influencing the formation, integration and function of teaching team. In view of these problems, the study discusses and explores the reasons deeply and draws some conclusions: the utilitarian tendency of its aim, the operation environment and administrative surroundings of university, the incentive, evaluation and feedback mechanism are not perfect and the building of team’s culture isn’t enough are the important courses which influence and restrict the teaching team’s whole operating and the full pay of its functions. Finally, the study puts forward several strategies on perfecting operation mechanism of teaching team and ensuring its running effectively. For example, to clear the objectives and build a scientific goal-oriented mechanism; to set the management idea of people-oriented and create favorable conditions; to strengthen the communication among members consciously and form a good cooperation mechanism; to improve the incentive and the standard funds using mechanism, set up perfect and reasonable incentives mechanism; to reform of the evaluation sense and improve the information feedback mechanism; to strengthen the mechanism of team’s cultural construction, build a good cooperation atmosphere.The perfectness and amelioration of teaching team is very important to its running, and it’s of vital importance to the survival and development of the team. This study hopes to provide reference for perfecting operation mechanism, ensuring its effective running and promoting the development of teaching team in colleges. Thus promote improvement of teaching and improve the teaching quality of higher education.
