The Xinjiang production and Construction Corps’ s Higher education course is an important part of the entire course of Corps. Corps’ s Higher education grows with the birth, growth and development of the great cause of socialism Land Reclamation, written a brilliant page by own career achievement for land reclamation. In 1952, Corps build up from nothing,from the first Corps Agricultural College established to Bayi Agricultural College of Xinjiang Military School, then to today’s “211 Project”-Shihezi University, and the construction of key universities-Tarim University, which has two many kinds of disciplines, great social influence,the development of Corps higher education has witnessed great changes, colleges and universities of Corps take “safeguard the borders” as special mission, the “scientific education” as the fundamental task of training, developed a large number of all types of qualified personnel for the economic construction and social development in Xinjiang and the Corps, which has made a great contribution, forming the Corps spirit of “hard work, rooted in the frontier, self-improvement, willing to sacrifice”. As a start-up and development time of Corps’ s Higher Education in sixties, now the review and summary of the history of Corps’ s higher education development and and function, role and characteristics of reflections on higher education will enable us to recognize the historical mission that the Corps higher education bears, to summarize the experience and lessons learned, it can provide a theoretical basis and policy suggestions for the Corps’ s present and future development of higher education so as to promote the smooth development of Corps’ s Higher education in the future.In this study, development of higher education in the sixties Corps is taken as the study subject, and educational activities of Corps major universities as specific study point, by mainly using oral history research methods, combined with literature. First, the background of the sixties Higher Education Development Corps is analyzed comprehensively, mainly including the great development of Corps, the attention of the party and state leaders and the impact of the “Cultural Revolution”. Second, the oral content from teachers of the sixties has collected and analyzed fully, exploring the clear development direction of Corps higher education in this period. Then on this basis, the paper further summarized the characteristics of the sixties Corps of higher education, including the ups and downs of the overall development of education, subject to local economic development, education and labor productivity’s close connection, pay attention to ideological education, militarized student management and other characteristics. Some teaching experience of that time also includes. Then the problems existed in the development of Corps higher education were showed on the basis of relevant literature and oral data analysis, including issues in four areas of the source and assignment of students, teachers, teaching, academic development and after that, enlightenment to the development of higher education in today’s Corps was proposed. Lastly, integrated with the background and characteristics of the Corps higher education development and problems, the paper analyzed the Corps educational philosophy of that time, and made a reflection on research methods, mainly refers to the factors that will influence the validity of oral history method.This study truly record the educational activities as well as the views on education and understanding of Corps higher education, namely college teachers, by the research method of oral history, which is to say, from the perspective of ordinary people to see education from that era, will help our interpretation of the development and age characteristics of the Corps higher education from a new perspective, returning to "The Source" of educational research, which shows a different side of the Corps Higher Education. A review of the development of Corps higher education in the past will provide historical reference for the future development both of China’s and Corps’ s Higher education.
