Self-management ability refers to the cognitive and reconstructive ability to collect, classify, analyze, solve and reflect problems, in face of the contradictions from the inner and outside world. Since the beginning of the 21 st Century, China is encountering her social transformation, in which the educational policy, teaching content and teaching methodology, and the test assessment are undergoing great transformation. Nevertheless, at no time will the nature of education change. The nature of education lies in the harmonious development of human society. What’s more, the development of a single individual is the process of dependence to self-reliance. In this process, self-reliance is further interpreted as self-management. Senior high period, especially senior one is the key period for the cultivation of self-management. Hence, it is of vital importance to improve students’ self-management. Based on the connotation of self-management and home and abroad research achievement, taking Chengdu Railway Senior High as example, this article analyzes the current situation and existing problems of students’ self-management, namely: the ambiguity of study aim, the superficiality of study strategy, the weakness if self-control, and the absence of self-reflection. From the perspective of target and strategy, incorporated with the real situation of Chengdu Railway Senior High, this article analyzes and reasons students’ self-management in four aspects: education assessment system, school education, family education and students’ development. Meanwhile, on the ground of interviews with teachers, parents and students, the articles generalizes countermeasures for students’ self-management: emphasizing the importance of self-management, paying attention to self-management in school culture construction; fostering students self-management ability according to the students’ natural law of development; establishing harmonious family atmosphere, and balancing family and school education.
