Geographic image possesses the characteristics of intuitive, image, concise and is multi-function information carrier. Geographic image ability is the core of the geographic literacy, including the ability of reading and drawing ability, analysis ability, able to use, etc. Geography drawing ability is not only the basic skills of geography, is an important way of cultivating geographical thinking. Study of high school geography drawing ability and training, to deepen the understanding of the theory of geographical mapping ability, also to improve the high school geography teaching, improve students’ geographical quality and promote the high school geography curriculum reform is of great significance.This paper mainly includes six parts:the geographical overview drawing summarized research status quo, geographic mapping ability, high school geography drawing ability present situation investigation and analysis, the high school geography drawing ability training strategy, relevant training strategies in the study of empirical research, the basic conclusions and problems and deficiencies.On the research method, is given priority to with literature method, survey method and empirical research. In high school geography curriculum standards for basic starting point, on the basis of consulting a large number of literature, investigation about the present situation of high school students ability to draw, and develop strategies to improve students’ ability to draw in the empirical analysis to test effectiveness of the strategy.Through research, this paper get the following basic conclusions. Geography drawing ability refers to the students in drawing geographical image has the skills, techniques, using the image, and the way to learn geography knowledge, the ability to solve geographic problems. High school stage,geographic mapping types can be classified into eight categories:Painted schematic graph, plotting graph, painted isoline graph, plotting area diagram, draw knowledge structure map, electronic map, fill in a form, drawing the other image etc.No.3 middle school of Guiyang in hunan province demonstration middle school high three students as the research object, through the investigation and analysis shows that the high school students ability of drawing worrying, for mapping interest and awareness is weak, all kinds of image with poor drawing skills, drawing applied consciousness and ability insufficient, it is urgent to take effective strategy training.Senior high school students’ geographical mapping ability training can be divided into three stages:drawing preparation stage, stage of drawing skills training, drawing application stage, the three stages of relationship is a gradual and also restrict each other contact. Drawing preparation strategies as follows:strengthening the consciousness of students’ drawing, stimulate students interest and cultivate good habits drawing boards, improve student ability of image. Drawing skills training stage development strategy is: have a good look at the picture-eye diagram:keep drawing, figure in the hand; Willing to think figure-the brain such as figure. Drawing application stage training strategies are: using situation, inspire the student application drawing; Establish the typical, motivate students application drawing; Using the study case, orderly increase application drawing ability; Encourage innovation, flexible change application drawing mode, etc.At the end of the paper using the above strategy, choose the section area geography curriculum case analysis, through empirical comparison research, to verify the effectiveness of the training strategies for the mentioned. And pointed out in the conclusion in this study in the literature review, questionnaire survey, empirical study, etc, the deficiency of existing.
