| Geographic image as a language of geography, it not only can describe thecharacteristics of geographic things and geographical phenomena directly, but alsovividly present geographic information simply and directly. Geographic imageincludes not only the common map but also other forms of charts, such as: thegeographic charts, contour maps, geographical landscape maps, geographicschematic, electronic maps, geographic comics maps, etc. Geographic image is ableto build students’ spatial thinking ability, cultivate students to establish mental map.The resolution ability of geographic image to help students’ understanding andanalysis of geographic things and disciplines.In the process of geography teaching, cultivating students ability of analyzingcapabilities in geography mainly includes training students to identify geographicimage capabilities, the ability to analyze and draw simple geographic images, theability to construct mental maps, the ability to develop spatial thinking and theability to learn to use geographic images.This paper mainly includes six aspects:The first aspect is introduction, including the background and significance,study generalization at home and abroad, research ideas and methods.The second aspect relate concepts and theoretical basis, primarily relate to theconcept the theoretical basis of geographic image analysis research capability.The third aspect is empirical analysis of assessing high school students’ abilityof geographic image, analyze the existing problems through questionnaires survey.The fourth aspect is the ways for the cultivation of geographic image analyticalability, which is the subject of this article, mainly for the ability of identifying,drawing, analyzing and applying geographic image. From the basics, strengthenstudents’ basic geographic knowledge, learn to read, and drawing chart, strengthencapacity building students geographic image, and use geographic imagescomprehensively.The fifth aspect of strengthening Students geographic image analysiscapabilities, take "massive water sports" as an example by designing lesson planscase.The sixth aspect is conclusion and discussion.
