A Study On Community College Policy Of The Obama Administration

After being the president of the US since early 2009, in order to reduce losses which caused by the financial crisis, revive the US economy, Obama administration puts forward a series of education reform proposal. Because the importance of American Community College in Higher Education and its own special advantages,so that the reform and improvement of community college education has been the Obama administration conceived as the top priority in a series of education reform.Meanwhile, the Obama administration has successively promulgated a series of policies on reform and development of community colleges, these policies focused on increasing the aid to community college and students, strengthening the close ties with the enterprises and promoting the education and teaching reform of community college. Obama administration’s policy on community colleges undoubtedly vigorously promoted the reform of community colleges, and it also played a certain role in developing of the American’s society、economic and enterprises. Through the study of the Obama administration’s policy on community colleges can help to understand the development of American community colleges and provide some suggestions and ideas for the further improvement of our country’s tertiary vocational education.This paper consists of an introduction and four parts:The introduction states reasons and significance of the topic, defines the concept of "Community College" 、, "policy" and "higher vocational education",combed the research status at home and abroad about the Community College Policy of the Obama Administration systematically, and describes the research method 、 emphasis and innovation of this paper.The first part systematically reviews the economic background, educational background, technology background and political background of the Obama administration’s policy on Community Colleges.The second part analyses the Community College policy of Obama administration from four areas: fund for the community college, fund for student,,promote community colleges and business integration process, and improve community college education and teaching reform.The third part describes the evaluation of the Obama Administration’s policy on Community College. Including confirm its role in promoting the US economy and corporate development, but also pointed out the problem of the Obama administration policy on community colleges are facing.The forth part mainly through the analysis of the Obama administration’s policy on Community Colleges makes some improvement suggestions of higher vocational education in China. Including: strengthen the funding for poor students, strengthen the connection between the higher vocational colleges and enterprises, reform the curriculum system in higher vocational colleges and so on.
