| Employment is a precondition for the improvement of people’s livelihood. Full employment of college students is not only relevant to the number of students who will fully make use of all they have learned to serve the whole society, but also to the stability of society and the development of economy. With the increasing number of college enrollment, more and more graduates find it difficult to get a job. Therefore the employment of college students has become one of hot issues of social concern. In the context of constructing a new socialist countryside, more and more talents are needed to serve for the villages. However, nowadays graduates prefer to work in the city, as makes the employment more imbalanced. On the one hand, there are more competitions occurred in the city; on the other hand there is a lack of talents working for the countryside. It’s therefore extremely necessary to set up new ideology on employment and guides for college students to work for rural areas in the context of current social development. In this way, the balanced employment and social and economic development for both urban and rural areas will be achieved. Aiming to encouraging more college graduates serving for countryside, the paper has analyzed the background, forms and scale of college students’ working in rural areas. Based on the survey results from college students’ rural employment willingness and the status quo of college students’ rural employment, the paper probed into the characteristics of students’ employment in rural areas and the factors that influenced college students’ job selection. It later gave detailed suggestions based on such perspectives as national policy, colleges, individual students, and other aspects in society.Taking college graduates’ employment in rural areas as the main line, increasing the number of college graduates working in rural areas as the core, we did this research. To begin with, we studied the employment background and its current situation, which is to say, in order to look for factual basis for the research we used investigation method to know college graduates’ intention and current situation of working in rural areas. Then, with the survey data, we analyzed and researched the college graduates’ intension and current situation of working in rural areas. On the basis of which, we researched the characteristics of college graduates’ working in rural areas, and reached some well-founded conclusions: the main characteristic of college graduates’ working in rural areas is small scale, high loss rate and more self-employed. Then we come to the influence of environment, culture, treatment, policy and individual by analyzing the influencing factor. Finally, having drawn lessons from some relevant employment theory, we can come up with some countermeasures to promote college graduates’ employment in rural areas. For government it is to improve the employment policy, attach importance to the orientation of the policy and highlight the stimulation of the policy. For college it is to lead rural employment concept, encourage students working at basic level and teach student to take on their responsibility. For college graduates it is to enhance employability especially in rural areas and entrepreneurial ability, improve the ability of psychological application. For society it is to expand employment, make sure people think highly of agriculture and ensure the investment of rural areas. |
