By the ways of doing a questionaire survey on 170 students who is talented in mathematics from three different middle schools of Changsha(training schools, public schools, private schools), interviewing three typical classmates, and knowing the gifted students’ study interest in mathematics, the article concerns some problems as follows:First, the present situation and development trend of middle school mathematics gifted students ’ study interest. Second, the reason for middle school mathematics gifted students ’ study interest. Third, the factors which have an influence on middle school mathematics gifted students ’ study interest. Fourth, the strategies and suggestions for improving middle school mathematics gifted students’ study interest.The survey was conducted through literature research method,questionnaire method, case interview method. The following conclusions can be drawn by analysizing concerned data.1. The gifted students have a relatively strong interest in mathematics,and there is no obvious difference between different grades.2. The learning interest between mathematics gifted student in different gender are obviously different. The boys’ learning interest in mathematics is significantly stronger than girls.3, Math scores, the teaching of mathematics history, and materialrewards have a significant effect on gifted students’ study interest in mathematics. The teachers’ teaching ways also have a certain effect on it.But the least influence on students’ study interest is teachers’ comments on mathematics gifted students and class atmosphere. Among three obviously influential factors, the most influential factor is students ’scores, followed by rewards, and mathematics history.4, The main reasons for gifted students ’ study interest in mathematics is that math is very interesting and useful; then the stress from entrance examination, and the impacts from teachers and families.5, The reasons why gifted students have less interest in learning mathematics are their hatred on homework, the fear of examination, and the boredom of mathematics.According to the conclusions above, three strategies attempting to inspire gifted students interest in mathematics study are proposed.First,for the students,a healthy and correct learning motivation should be set up by themselves. Second, for the teachers, professional quality should be improved. Teachers can carry out classroom teaching through various ways, and make the teaching atmosphere more active with humors. Encourgement and praise make students more confident, which also can be adopted during the classing time. Relating to the hot social problem and leading the gifted students to solve it with mathematics skill do help. Third, for the parents, a good family environment should beestablished. A proper rewards is encouraged.
