Learning in Math is inseparable from the development of thinking and formation of skills in Math exercises, which is mainly achieved through practice. The paper takes the process of Math exercises design for gifted students in Junior Middle School as the content to research in order to cultivate the learning abilities of the gifted students. This paper adopts the methods of literature review, questionnaire survey, the study method i.e., it takes the gifted students in two Junior Middle Schools as the research object and analyzes the current situation of the design of Math exercises for gifted students in Junior Middle School as well as its cause.The paper takes the design objectives and principles as the guide and enhances students’interest through the activities of exercises. Mathematical thinking is required in the designing of Math exercises, with its types optimized and a variety of evaluation methods introduced.Previous researchers payed more attention to the optimization of learning strategy of all students through the design of Math exercises. This paper, different from the previous ones, summarizes the effective learning characteristics of the gifted students demonstrated in Math learning and works out the changes in learning attitude, learning psychology and learning achievement through contrasting experimental activities before and after.At the same time, it provides teaching reference of Math gifted students for Junior Middle School teachers under the system of class teaching and constructs specialized development platform for them.
