The review organizes the major theoretical models of Non-Suicidal Self-Injury: Interpersonal influence functional model and Emotional management model,as well as empirical study of group counseling applied to emotional management,based on which the article aims to investigate the relationship between emotional state, emotional expression and self-injurious behavior, then test the effect on adolescent self-injurious behavior by emotional management group counseling.This article includes 2 studies: In study 1, use <Adolescent Self-Injurious Behavior Questionnaire>,<Emotion Expression Scale>, <Fan Xiaodong Emotional Scale> to figure out the relationship between adolescent self-injury behavior and emotional state, emotional expression. In study 2, 6 students who had self-injury behavior are chosen to take an emotional management group counseling program with 8 times, measured with questionnaires before, after and a month after the program.The results are as follows:(1) Study 1 shows that the incidence of self-injury on sex,grade, family structure and family residence are notsignificant different. Besides, the relations between emotional expression, negative emotion and self-injury are significant, while positive emotion is not. Emotional expression has negative predict ability to teenage self-injury behavior while negative emotion has positive predict ability.Analysis about the cause of self-injury behavior are as follows:teenagers lack emotion management skills,including emotional expression, and coping with negative emotion. This suggests that it ’ s possible to control adolescent self-injury behavior on emotion expression and negative emotion.(2) Study 2 shows, the emotional management group counseling has a significant effect to emotional expression,negative emotion and self-injury behavior. Tracking data shows that this intervention has good durability.We can see that participates in the group counseling find an alternative way of self-injury and reduce self-injurious behavior by learning emotional management skills.
