The new sports curriculum reform promotes the reform of our country’s physical education, and the sports teachers of various areas try to change their teaching ideas and methods to actively respond to the reform of physical education. But from the reported data of the National Physical Health Standards in recent years, students’ physical health is not optimistic, especially in Yantai Development Zone where the obesity proportion of students continues to increase. What is worse, the students’ physical quality is declining, and from the students’ physical examination organized by the Development Zone, it is found that there is a growing trend of the students’ near-sights rate. The above problems put forward more severe challenges to sports and health class of primary school students in the Yantai Development Zone. The physical and health education should not only teach students basic technology and skills to carry out physical training, but also guide students to engross themselves in physical and health class so that they can exercise their strong physique and form a sound personality through pleasant sports activities. In this dissertation, the author uses "Health First" as the guiding ideology. Based on the physical and mental development characteristics of primary students in the Yantai Development Zone, she adopts documents, questionnaire, comparative analysis, experimental research and other research methods. 126 students, who come from Grade Two of the Third Primary School in Yantai Development Zone, are selected as the subjects in the teaching experiment. One class is chosen as the experimental one and two classes as the control ones. They have the same teaching contents but different teaching modes. They are different in the time allotment of game. The experimental class uses the game teaching mode, games + basic sports technology explanation( there are 12-25 minutes of games during a class). The control Class B adopts the traditional teaching mode which centers on explaining practice( there are 5-10 minutes of games during a class). Class C centers on game teaching and thus technical method is hardly or simply taught( there are 27-35 minutes of games during a class). The main purpose of the study is to compare and analyze the data of several aspects such as pupils’ running jumper abilities, sports learning interest and attitude through a semester ofteaching practice, and thus to draw a conclusion and provide the following teaching suggestions:(1) The sports games proportion of a class has great influence on pupils’ sports’ learning?(2) Make reasonable game time allotment according to different teaching contents?(3) Based on the golden section ratio and pupils’ age characteristics, it is better to spend 12-25 minutes on games?(4) Unreasonable use of sports games has bad effect on pupils’ initiatives and interest in learning?(5) Generally speaking, when more time is spent on sports games rather than teacher’s explanation, the teaching effect is ideal and thus it is much easier to motivate pupils’ enthusiasm and initiative.
