| PE teachers take the important task to cultivate students’ sports consciousness and to guide students to participate in sports activities, which is a long way to go. As the basic of quality education, primary school physical education should be paid more attention. As an important part of the primary school sports education, promoting the teaching ability of PE teachers is important for development of school sports education. According to the sixth national population census, Nanyang has a population of 10263006, which is ranked the sixth in Henan province. Nanyang, as a city with a larger population, faces a situation of larger number of school-age children and relative shortage of education resources, which make the physical education of primary school plays a particular role in basic education. Then, to study the level of teaching ability of PE teachers in this area is very significance for the long-term development of sports education and education reform. This study investigated the present situation of PE teachers’ teaching ability in Nanyang primary school, discovered the development of their teaching ability, and found the problems existed in current situation. Based on our investigation, this paper provides theoretical support of enhancing the PE teachers’ teaching ability in Nanyang primary school. In this study, sports science, education, education psychology of management and the concept of teachers’ ability study and teacher professional theory are used as the instruction. At the same time, the literature material law, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics, logic analysis and other research methods were used to analyze the results and to measure the teaching ability, 150 PE teachers from twenty primary schools in Nanyang city were regarded as the research object of the questionnaire.Through the investigation and analysis, we can conclude that the number of young and middle-aged PE teachers is a larger percent in the team of Nanyang primary school PE teachers, certain parts of them have received the special physical education, and most of them have formal organization. On the other hand, quite a number of teachers teach for a long time, however, the time which they engaged in the physical education is extremely short. In specific teaching practice, some teachers would prepare lessons before class and use multimedia teaching equipment in the process of sports teaching, moreover, a few teachers would make class summary and periodic summary in order to summarize and consolidate teaching achievements. Actually, most of the PE teachers consider their class organization ability is ordinary and only a part of primary school PE teachers pay more attention to the role of "demonstration" in sports teaching. On the side of job training, only a part of the teachers have the opportunity to accept the on job training, which is organized by the local education authorities. Based on the analysis results, we believed that there can be more approaches for PE teachers to promote their teaching ability in Nanyang primary schools, such as: paying more attention to the professional construction for PE teachers of the primary school, Establishing measure system of teaching ability for PE teachers, making regular test and evaluation to the teaching ability of PE teachers in Nanyang primary school and providing on job training opportunities for PE teachers in primary school. |
