Background: As the vocational education got gradual increased share of the higher education, the amount of vocational students also grows. Vocational students’ employment is a common concern of social, family, school and vocational students. However, China’s current employment situation is extremely severe, vocational students face great psychological pressure because of the fierce competition with many higher degree professionals.Therefore the research on higher vocational colleges students’ career planning,find the key problems,help enhance the professional,vocational and job-seeking understanding,and enable the successful employment is of great importance for vocation colleges.Objective: investigate the current status of 5 vocational colleges students career planning in Yongchuan district, analyze the problems and the influencing factors of career planning and explore its function for vocational students,which can be a valuable reference for regional study.Methods:Combined with quantitative and qualitative methods,especially the literature review, research questionnaires and interviews. Analyze almost 10 years of relevant documents related to vocational students career planning, to know the international and national research status of career planning for vocational students. Investigate 2562 students with the Career Planning Situation questionnaires in 5 Vocational Colleges of Yongchuan District,use the purposive sampling method to select leaders, teachers and students and do the individual interviews and group interviews. Try to figure out the Status,problems and influencing factors of career planning for vocational students.Results: The study found that, the career planning is highly recognized by vocational students, but the theory and application capacity of the career planning is insufficient. There are 87.66% of vocational students know the importance, 82.96% stays at the cognitive level, only 6.50%can use the Career Theory.The educational time in career planning for sophomore(32.67%), for the junior(30.89%) and at graduation stage(23.16%); learning methods for career planning includes courses(35.31%), Seminar(33.71%), counseling specialized teachers(27.87%); the teacher source are specialized teachers(33.24%),employment guidance center teacher(33.05%), professional vocational training teacher(30.41%). "Professional Teachers’ is the key source for theory of career planning.The qualitative survey shows,leaders and teachers agree on the importance of the career planning theory’s positive effect on vocational students. But the lack of teachers and pressure of professional teachers can not satisfy the demand of students.The influencing factors include instincts of colleges, specialty characteristics,school culture,teachers,training basement construction are of great concern.Conclusion: Vocational College students’ career planning contents should include self-awareness, cognitive professionalism, choice of occupation, target fix, self adjustment. Vocational colleges need to strengthen the self-construction and improve the quality of teaching,these can be a solid foundation for their vocational career planning, and ultimately achieve a high professional vocation level and achieve a lifelong career development.
