In the autumn of 2011,Zhejiang province carried out the reform of the ordinary high school curriculum,and the focus and the highlight of the deepening of the course reform is the construction of the elective courses. Based on the knowledge that students have gained, the elective courses of Seniors high school mathematics intend to provide diverse courses to meet the diverse needs of the students. Compared with the provide signal and traditional compulsory curriculum, math elective courses pay more attention to the students’ right to choose, show more respect for the dominant position of the students, and pay more to the cultivation of students’ innovation consciousness and self-study ability. Now China is in the critical turning period of the development of education are all experiencing profound changes. The high school education Especially are mathematics education plays a very important role in students’ study. It is of great importance to set up and implement high school mathematics elective courses. In this way, students can choose courses according to their interests and hobbies. Thus, students’enthusiasm and initiative can be aroused. It adapts to the needs of the development of students’physical and mental health, and also leaved some space for teachers.This paper is based on the theory and practice of setting of elective courses. The full text is divided into 5 parts. The first part talks about the objectives, the content and the characteristics of the elective courses. The second part is about the elective course, teaching methods and evaluation methods. The third part is the research on the two topics of the knowledge development course and the mathematics culture course. The forth part summarizes the factors that affects the implementation of the elective courses. The fifth parts analysis some countermeasures to promote the implementation of the elective courses.The setting of the high school mathematics elective courses caused a widespread concern. How is the current state of the implementation of the high school mathematics elective curriculum and what are the implement carriers of the mathematics elective courses have been the problems awaiting us to solve.
